Throttle position sensor
« on: 04 February 2008, 20:45:44 »

Been having a fault light come on recently and so had a tech ii readout done. Identified voltage problem with TPS. The car still runs OK so asked them to reset and see what happened. After a week EML is coming on again.
If this is confirmed as a TPS should I buy one or can they be cleaned/repaired.
Where abouts are they on the 2.2 engine.
Thanks for any help. :)

There is also a TPS on the throttle assembly to (its the feedback for the throttle control motor).

I would follow Auto Addicts guide on cleaning the throttle body first as if this is sticking it can raise such faults

I don't think that sensor is replacable on its own.  But worth a clean of the throttle, and breathers whilst there

Guys,
Cleaned the throttle body and breathers, and put in new oil and filter whilst at it. Fingers crossed the fault light has not been on since. Thanks for the advise. Saved me buying a new sensor.

John :)
