Back From The Dead!!!!!!
« on: 26 February 2008, 18:04:13 »

Well I just thought Id keep thoses that gave me advice informed. The old girl is back from the dead.

Got her all stripped down and rebuilt in just over 2 days, just had to do it over a couple of weekends due to commitments. Found the back piston full of water and the exhaust full of water as well. Dis pack was faulty and water pump failed.

Temp gauge now works thanks to a new switch and she runs as smooth as when I got her. One thing I still notice is that it appears to change down early especially in normal mode (could this be the auto box??).

Anyway thanks to all that gave advice and happy motoring  :D :y ;D

Could be the selector switch?? Maybe its got wet or gunged up?? Worth cleaning it up and see if that helps, also check gearbox fluid levels...

750 is more like it for a 2L.   Would be worth cleaning out breathers , throttle body, ICV etc according to the maintenance guide as a start.

I cleaned all breathers, throttle housing and nozzle into manifold when I did the head as I had to remove everything anyway.

I will adjust the stop and see if that increases tickover slightly.

I would try the selector switch but Im not sure where it is situated. Every time I go to look at my haynes manual I find my daughter has used it as a scrap book and torn the pages out  ;D
