Engine management light
« on: 24 January 2008, 22:47:17 »

Hi all
Just onto my second Omega now - a 2001 2.2 CDX - and have come across this great forum
All going Ok except (!) engine management light (spanner one) comes on periodically ( will go out on engine restart ) - had local garage do me quick favour and read the fault code - told me it was throttle position sensor plus lean mixture ( said 2 were linked) reset it but has come on again - does'nt seem to have adverse affect on car - Any ideas if this is simple fix ???

'dangle berries', Omega does not have a Service/SVS/etc type light. Its a fault.

Is it still happening? If so, tell garage to do it properly, or if they are too stupid to use diag equip, use a different garage.

Thought as much - I'm getting OBDII code reader so can check fault codes - i'll go from there - I'll see if i get same code result as before i.e TPS - is this common fault ??

If you can get a tool that can do live data readings, that is more useful than a simple code reader

Cardiff is not THAT far from one of the two members with a "proper" TechII .. might be worth paying one a visit ??

That way you get

1. someone who actually knows how to read the data correctly

2. an ACCURATE description of the problem

3. probably a list of the exact steps needed to fix it !!

I To have the engine managment light that has come on with no actual effect on the cars performance.
On friday the car is going in to have it checked out so will let you know what they say.
The light has been on and off for about three months now and have tried to locate the problem using one of the handheld diagnostics but no faults come up.Time  i think to get it checked . ::)
