mirror switch and rust
« on: 21 March 2008, 12:54:38 »

Two questions, my switch for the electric mirrors only works up and down and only occasionally side to side, mirrors are ok as they work normally when the memory function is used, can you open up the switch and clean the contacts or is it a new switch?,also i have a bit of rust coming through under the window rubbers, can the top half of the door be blown in or does the whole door need spraying (polar sea blue).

Hi With the mirror switch, try just flicking it from side to side and up and down lots and lots of times. That is what fixed mine.

.....or a new one will be pence from a breakers. Probably give it a fiddle and a squirt of wd40 underneath when ignition is OFF.

Doors are a common problem, probably consult bodywork specialist, unrusty replacements are very difficult to find.
