Central Locking fault
« on: 25 March 2008, 21:07:35 »

On saturday night my central locking stopped working completely. I only bought the car on friday, its a 1996 Elite 2.5 TD Manual model. The key will unlock and lock the driver's door but will not operate the central locking system. i have tried switching on the ignition and pressing the lock button on the fob but that doesn't work. All the fuses are fine but i don't know what else to check. Can anyone help please.

Does the light in the key shine when you press a button ???

If not ...

a) key fob battery flat ??  - replace
b) key fob switches FUBAR  ?? - see Mr Imber (I think it is he who mends them ....) ... :)

Yes, when i press fob button it does light up. Its as though something has tripped out if that makes any sense because there is nothing there at all when button is pressed other than the indicators flash.
