slight missfire?
« on: 25 March 2008, 16:04:29 »

I used the car this morning, which took 2 attempts to start :-/
I used it on a 20mile trip then left it for about 4hrs.
When i started it, it ran up to 1200rpm with a slight missfire/popping :-/
There are no stored fault codes, all the plugs have been replaced, breathers cleaned etc....
After about 30secs the missfire stopped and all was normal again.
Any ideas??/?
What symptoms will a slightly leaking EGR valve give me??

Sounds like mine lol!  Its gotten a fair bit worse since I did the coil pack.  Only does it though when its been stood overnight or longer...

I'm thinking either a very slow fuel leak, or the FPR sticking...

Yours may be something completely different though!

I also blanked off the EGR valve as it was showing signs of leakage, not sure if this would have caused the problem though :-/

Faulty EGR could give a lumpy idle, certainly. Not sure about difficult starting. I guess it wouldn't help. Ordinarily it would stay shut until warmed up and cruising. :-/

Fingers crossed.
