99 Headlight lens
« on: 10 May 2008, 23:02:42 »

One of my headlights has a scrape on the plastic lens. I've noticed it just clips on. Does that mean you can buy just the lens without having to fork out for a whole new light unit?

Hi
Unfortunately it's not just clipped on, it's glued on as well.  The "glass" can be removed using a hot air gun to soften the adhesive, but it's a messy job.  Also AFAIK the "glass" is not available by itself.

PS It might be possible to polish out the scratch.  This can be done with the earlier type patterned lenses, but I do not know if the projector lens is made of the same plastic.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

When i bought my omega, those plastics were in quite bad condition.
That picture was taken after wash...

After half an hour of work.

Wet sanding and some polishing wax. :o
That right one looked same as left before this sanding...
