cam seal gaskets gone but.....

altho ive yet to actually sort out my cam seals ive noticed something else..silly question time...at the back of my omega 2.0 engine is a round objest witha square plastic piece attached to the top of it...this has a hollow lead whick has broken off(cant find out what thi s part is called in the handbook).....now..can i replace the square piece on the top or does the whole round unit(whatever its called/does) need repacing?
