Battery flat, car locked, can't get in.
« on: 21 March 2012, 02:53:31 »

This is for a work colleague.
A mate of mine at work has a very nice Omega, but recently bought himself a Pajero. He parked the Omega up and started using the 4x4. Now the Omega's battery's gone flat and he can't get into the car. He's tried with the key, but the key apparently turn only so far and won't unlock the doors. He said he doesn't want to go through the boot and start destroying the back seats etc.
Has anyone got any advice I can pass on, please?
Thanks in advance.

I did this too and found by accident that if you use the key in the door it comes to a stop, I'm sure I lifted the handle and turned the key a little harder and POP, it's open....

had the same problem, but keys were different to the locks...heres a little trick if the car has a tow bar with twin electrics........on the caravan socket..pin 6 if i remember right(bottom one), 12v constant feed, back feed it with bat charger with earth on towbar for a min or two & unlock with fob. job done. thats if the constant feed fuse is in of course.  :y

I did it a different way...
The key would not work in the door, but did open the boot, so I removed the boot light and hooked up some jumpo leads to the wires.
That let me operate the central locking.

There's also the positive feed to the starter or alternator (which are certainly man enough to take the feed) and are the only 2 routes I would recommend for safety reasons (although the others will probably be fine ;))

They key in the door should work though, but ISTR that the button doesn't always pop up :-\

Update!! I have one happy mate at work.
He tried this method and his car unlocked. He reckons he ran down the road whooping, silly bugger.
Day, he says he owes you a pint or three mate.
