Hi all
I recently posted about a ticking sound and poor performance, due to a crack in the rocker cover losing oil.
Saturday the car spluttered and choked to the garage (when I could get enough revs to move the thing) after a banging and ticking extravaganza the previous night on a short 2 mile hop. My mechanic (who is very good/reasonable/honest) confirmed spark plug 4 well was oiled up (replacement rocker cover needed). He cleaned it out, replaced the plug (checked all 4 wells), getting me back firing on 4 cylinders, but the ticking/knocking I thought was a misfire still remains.
He then said 'how long do you plan on keeping this for again?' and 'I think your engines knackered, sounds a bit camshafty'...

My question is could it be the sensor rather than anything more? I can post a soundclip if anyone wants to hear it and pass a verdict.
That coupled with my unsolved gearbox problem are putting me off keeping this and/or getting another miggy but I want to be proved wrong!

PS How easy/expensive is a gearbox filter change? I just read it solved someones problems..
