exhaust smoke ish
« on: 24 May 2008, 23:10:35 »

had air con serviced on friday. Drove it to garage about 30 mins engine off for 30 mins or more while they vaced out the gas, measured and re gased it. 950 mily whats its all ok. Start car to check ac temp and i notice the exhaust blowing a little smoke, not oily but beige y cream color, not steam as if from cold, it had dispersed by as high as rear bumper.
Not seen smoke that colour before. Herd a bit about cats on here. The guy in garage said maybe cats warning up?
Any body know why its doing that.
3.2 on 02 plate 68 k on clock. Last service aprill last year. Only had it a week so it could have stood around for a while. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest that it is due to the car standing for a time, then undertaking reasonably short journeys, so the water content in the exhaust system has built up only to burn off once you really started to warm the engine up over a period of time.  Hence the beige like exhaust smoke.

From what you are stating I don't see that the air con could be affected by this.  Others may disagree.

Hope this helps :y

only mentioned ac to give idea of engine temp. Would have been easier just to give the temp. on gauge it was 85 degrees so not cold by any means.
