What to do
« on: 19 October 2007, 19:01:13 »

Hmmmm, what to do, i grew up with these cars, my farther owned several, used to work on them with him as a kid, I know these like the back of my hand and I always said i would get one to rebuild, but this is ready to go.

What memories it brings.

Well you have kicked my Brain back into gear :y

My then(1977) Girlfriends dad had one of these, and we went to Sherwood forest for a weeks camping

holiday. never forget the antics under the blanket as we were sat on the back seat, i will never forget

his Eyes in the rear view mirror watching me.

If only he knew ;D

Mk1 & Mk2 cortinas were great ... I had a Lotus Cortina (which I wrecked) and a 1600E , but IMHO the Mk3s were just butt-ugly in comparison :(

I've always liked the mk3's. :)
When I was at college a fellow student had a restored one, lovely example. Was a tad jealous to say the least!  >:(

:(No No No No No All 'Tinas are cool, but the Mk3 was the Daddy. I was watching that one & it reached £1600 but went for £1050. When i sell my Landy i'll buy one like that, bring it to an OOF meet, lose my posts & take a kicking!!!! One mans meat......etc.
Looks well with them period Wolfies. & i've still got a void bush puller!!!! 8-)

I was -16 when it was built!  :o

I still hanker after a Mk1, the shape's still beautiful. Mk2s I like the estates, Mk3s I like, but wouldn't have myself... then the Mks4 and 5... ugh.

My problem wasn't getting the voided bushes out it was the top wish bone bolt out of the front suspension. :( I ended up sawing it into 3 pieces to get the wishbone out & then emoving the whole subframe to drill out what was left in it. The bolt had to come from Ford & was £14 in 1980!  :o I was a young penniless apprentice at the time.
