What is it with locking systems recently
« on: 04 June 2008, 15:46:29 »

ok i have decided that its about time to post up on here.
last night i locked the car up as normal, no problem at all.

this morning i have come out to the car and tried to unlock with central locking buttons, and nothing happened at all.

i managed to get around the deadlock by forcing the key past the point that lets you unlock the door.

teh car starts as normal and all functions work as they should, except the courtesy light.

i checked the fuse that the book has listed for the central locking system and that was fine no problems at all.

while at work i took teh battery cables off and left it to sit for a while.

it then started to work, so i made sure i reprogrammed the key using the ignition and pushing the buttons, again all was fine.
i though that was teh job sorted.
while a courier was here i poped out and tried it again, nothing was working again.

so i got into teh car again and had a look at the fuse, again not broken.
took the battery cable off again and put it back on, this time it did not work, i tried the buttons and although the lights were flashing to indicate the car was locked/unlocked the actual motors were not doing anything.
i checked the fuse again and this time it was blown. i replaced it and teh lighst still flash but again no motors, and now the fuse is not blown either.

its a bit of a long post but does anybody have any ideas at all what could be causing this problem? could there be an elcetrical fault with the system, or maybe the central locking ecu has gone south???

any ideas would be great

Does it work after resyncing?  Poor battery contacts on fob makes it 'lose' where it is in its rolling code.

no checked this and tried with both fobs, have repaired them in the past but they both seem fine, also it does not make sense that is the problem and it still operates the indicators and courtesy light
just not the motors, my guess is that the relay that controls the solenoids is nackered, although i guess a session on tech2 will prove it?

looks like i wil have to book it in for a session.

anybody in the kent area that has a propper tech 2???
