Odd one this and it may turn out to be nothing, pending me filling up later.
History records my fuel light coming on at about 50 miles on the range, and starting to blink at about 30 miles. Something like that anyway.
I replaced the fuel filter on my 2.2 DTi the other day, with about 60 miles showing on the range display. It was a big hassle getting the cover free enough to get the filter out, involving lots of hose moving, unplugging of sensors and unclipping the coolant tank.
I filled the filter with fuel, started it and it died. Obviously it started with the fuel still in the system between filter and engine. Cranked it for about 3 seconds after that and it started fine, and has started and run fine the 4 times since. So I will assume that the replacement was successful. I managed to leave the coolant level sensor off, but replaced it once I realised.
Ever since, however, I have had a blinking fuel light while driving despite the fuel gauge showing just out of the red and the range showing 60 to the now 34 miles after two trips to work.
Surely the Omega doesn't have some weird ECU setting that has to be set by Vauxhall when the filter is changed, to ensure the car comes to them at some point?
I will fill up later to see if the light goes out but it does seem rather a strange coincidence and all the electrical plugs seem to be present and correct.
Is there a possibility that some diesel from the filter dripped onto one of the connections in the engine bay and is shorting out the wire to the fuel light?
