an even easier hbv replacement
« on: 26 June 2008, 03:37:36 »

Helloo to all

Got the hbv replaced on saturday  :)  we used the fab replacement thread in the maintenance section - we found that by making sure that the coolant system wasn't under pressure, but retightening the overflow cap so that vacuum would keep the coolant in the system, that we could replace the hbv without draining the coolant, only loosing a smidge - job done in 25 mins !   :y

This is also a big thanks to the site & all that gave advice on hbv after local garage said it was head gasket that would cost £1287.50 + cam belt, when it was really the hbv £27 delivered & gave my mate £15 for ratchet work.

As i'm now over £1200 better off then it must be official - being part of the OOF makes you richer !!!    ;D

Well done matey  :y, just show's how poor garages are these days, even with all the technology.

Just imagine what you could do with the £1200 saving.

it's all false economy anyway - i'm not really richer, i'm just less in debt, but optimism's a lovely state of mind for as long as you can fool yourself   ::)
