Idle speed
« on: 25 June 2008, 21:48:22 »

Hi all, Seems to be jumping to 1000-1500 when started and settles down to 500 when warmed up. It seems to run a bit lumpy when doing this almost like a small misfire,It was serviced inc plugs( vaux) less than 500 mls ago, worse on gas but suppoose shouldnt be starting it on that anyway!  An suggestions gratefully recieved

First stop has to be the idle control valve.

Standing facing the engine, right side of large silver gubbins on the top of the engine with ecotec on it, towards the front.  1" diameter pipe and an electrical connection to remove from a small fist sized piece of metal, then slip it out of the mounting of the plenum.  Clean with copious ammounts of carb cleaner.  No sticking jaggy sharp things inside, simply fill with carb cleaner then shake it around several times.  Lubricate when done with a couple of drops of light oil such as 3 in 1 (not WD40) then refit.
