This is a silly question, but does anybody know where the little black control box, which receives the signal from your key fob lives? The Haynes workshop manual vaguely says it can be found in the footwell, but i've spent ages with my legs over the front seat back rests, with the blood rushing to my befuddled brain looking for the thing!

Its behind the drivers side kick panel at the base of the A pillar.

Why?

Thanks, I'll have another look.

When I bought the car, I only had one locking fob. I bought two fobs on Ebay which came with the control unit, hence my search for where it is supposed to plug into the loom. (the "Plipper" on my old Peugeot could be re-programmed, I don't suppose the Omega fob could be "trained" in a similar way, could it?)

suspect not old been, tech 2 only i would have thought. The boy or Mark dtm can sort you out, unless it really old and needs tech1. Either way i would save the gymnastics for another day.
The boy sorted myn. Deleted old key codes. Reprogrammed a new blade with chip, and updated all my engine, gearbox, and ac software. For the price of a phew bears.
From vx 95 quid for a key, £45 to plug tech2 in and thats before they actually do anything while they are in there. Plus you may well have to battle with the mech, to get him to actually do what you ask, and thats if if knows how to use tech 2 at all. ... Sorry rant over. :y
