Leaking HID pump
« on: 04 July 2008, 20:35:19 »

Anyone ever suffered a leaking HID pump before?

Symptons being, leaks most the contents of the resivoir
Leaking from the pump itself, above the water outlet.

Anyone successfully repaired em, or is it new one time?

Cheers

Am a bit thick here Jimbob, but am learning more about the Miggy daily.

HID to me is in regards to headlights.

Could you please tell me what a HID pump is.  It might be something silly, so I appologise in advance for my igmorance.

TIA.   :y

No worries....

HID lights legally must have headlight washers....

In an Omega, you have a bloody great water tank...
1 small low pressure pump for the front (and rear estate) screens
and 1 larger high pressure pump to run the headlight washers (only works when the headlights are on)

This pump is fitted to all elites (HID or Non HID) and all others with HID lights

In Ljay's car, this pump has developed a leak and needs fixing / replacing.

I had a leaky pump too. There is a small hole where you can see that pump seals are leaking.
I think itīs for same reason as in engineīs waterpump has that hole too if seals are gone.

Anyway, i put some sealant to it and itīs fixed now...

Already changed the grommit, deffo the pump, managed to see the rough drip location with a mirror.

Taken it off, and can't see a hole, so coated the bugger in sikaflex. lets see if that does the job before looking at replacement.  :y
