Error Code 74 - Won't start- Air Flow Meter?
« on: 10 July 2008, 18:02:28 »

Further to earlier posts.

Apparently the car started when it was recovered to the garage. They have noted Error Code 74 which, according to the list elsewhere on this forum is "Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High".

So the same question applies. Does this warrant a replacement MAF and another £300 on my credit card debt.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Hmm, it should run with a faulty MAF - may be rough though...

Try and run it with the MAF unplugged, if it runs better, then its prob the MAF thats dead.

no personal experience of this myself but have read on here maf sensor failure is almost unheard of. More likely the wiring to it or other inlet related problem. Exhaust all other channels before coffing your sobs.

Thats very kind. How do we communicate directly? As you see I'm a newbie on the forum.

The car is currently still at the garage and I expect to collect it (provided we can get it going) this afternoon about 3:30-4:00 when the Missus gets home.

I'm out this afternoon and this evening, but should be around tomorrow.
