tyre noise
« on: 22 July 2008, 10:19:51 »

Guys have terrible tyre noise on my car in fact sounds like a wheel bearing but have been assured it is not, noise does fade in and out on different road surfaces, current tyres are budget tyres called runways, just wondered what would be recommended still on a budget type tyre around the 60-70 pound mark with less noise.

Hi, what are the falkens like are they quiet on road noise in general, and can they be bought mainstream like stapletons or kwik fit.

I have been happy with them (2nd lot I've had).
I think they are easy enough to source.  Give a few places a call.

Best price for falkens is www.camskill.co.uk , they are even cheaper than buying direct from falken www.falkentyres.co.uk . You just get your local tyre place to fit them about £10-£15 per tyre.

Falken do several types, I previously had the ZE512 but found them a bit lacking so this time went for the FK452 which is a sportier tyre and is excllent wet and dry. £68 per tyre inc shipping. No tyre noise to speak of on normal road surfaces.

I also use Falken FK452's on my estate and find them to be pretty good for the money. I usually get them from tyretraders.com but the last couple were supplied and fitted by Wheels in Motion in Chesham and were very reasonably priced. They are a slightly softer compound making them quite grippy but they do tend to wear a bit quicker than some premium tyres.
