wipers. again.
« on: 07 August 2008, 17:47:39 »

Just seen james post on wipers and realised myn aint great either. They sit in the right position but when the drivers side changes direction near the a pillar there is quite often a knock, as if its hitting the pillar and banging. Its worst on the fast position and realising that that the throw gets wider as the setting is increased with momentum and wear i thought it MUST be hitting the pillar, so i moved it round, or down, on the spline so it changes direction away from the pillar. But it still knocks and is clearly not hitting the pillar. I noticed when changing the hbv that the rubber that seals bottom of the screen to the scuttle  had come away, and wondered if water had got in and worn the joints. Wipers where in a right state when i got the car, the screen is badly marked and they judder badly. changed them asap but only slightly better.
Where should i start with the mechanism? It all looks very tight in there. Cheers

There are quite a few ball joints within the whole mechanism. A little bit of wear in each of them will make a fair difference to the whole stroke.
