Servo pipe thingy!
« on: 12 August 2008, 09:16:12 »

Chaps,

What's the plastic valve type thing that's in the main vacuum pipe just adjacent to the brake servo? It's got a smaller vacuum pipe that leads away somewhere. Where this pipe fits onto the assembly, the moulded pipe has broken off and although I've managed to refit it after a fashion it's not ideal (loss of vacuum=loss of brakes?!!)

Are they expensive to buy and if so anybody got one they want to part with? Ta.

Which bit broken off, the main vac hose, or the smaller vac hoses?

Either way, replacement.  Plenty of people breaking cars on here ;)

The Boy,

No the main pipe is all ok, it's just the little pipe but I don't want to risk it!

What's the bit actually called so I know what to ask for?

So you have broken on of the smaller pipes that feeds the vac system - multirams, SAI, and heating/climate?

Just describe the whole part (probably easier to replace entire big vac pipe) - someone on OOF will have one!

A Non Return valve. Vauxhall do 3 different kinds, no little pipe, 1 little pipe & 2little pipes and IIRC are around £11. You'll need some carefull application of heat to remove the old one from the pipe and to fit the new one, although it's easier to force the new one in than remove the old one. DON'T MELT THE PIPE! ;)  :y
Be careful with 'new-to-you' pipes as they're likely to be as brittle and easily damaged as yours.

Interesting that, seeing as my heater direction controls don't work (see previous posts!!) and I'm not convinced about the Multirams either! What's SAI? I bet it's something obvious :D

Ah, that works 'cos it makes a bit a row when it's running ;D My highly trained mechanic mate reckons it's on its way out...

The pump may work, but the valve probably wont without the vac ;)
