What tools need for Aux belt change?
« on: 20 August 2008, 11:06:49 »

I am going to change the aux belt on my V6. Is there a guide on here for it? If not What tools do I need to release the tensioner?

15 mill spanner to release the tensioner(clockwise) and change the just the pulley(anticlockwise), 2 bolts to the block for the tensioner itself, not sure the size of those. May be a guide in maintainance section. But its fairly easy tbh. Just take a picture of the routing with mobile or something
Its easy to get confused putting it back on if you not done it before.

Take out dual ram system, remove secondary air injection pipe - two hoses to disconnect, and two nuts.

use socket wrench or torque wrench with 15mm and turn the tensioner bolt clockwise, remove belt.

Make a note of how it goes round all the pulleys!

Reroute new belt around the pulleys, except tensioner. make sure torque/socket wrench is arleady through the belt and put it back on tensioner nut.  as you turn the tensioner clockwise again, slip the belt over it and then turn the tensioner anti-clockwise - it will naturally go that way anyway and take up the belt tension.

refit secondary air injection pipe and multi-ram pipes.

possible with just 15mm spanner.  Bit fiddly doing the belt with all intake on, but do-able

Better with 15mm socket + bar.  No need to remove front rams - enough space.  You will need to undo bracket holding air con pipework to allow belt to be removed.

Right

Remove the intake trumpets

15mm spanner to remove the belt from the tensioner.

You then need to remove the air injection pipes.

Also, disconnect the P clip that holds the aircon pipe to the front engine mounted bracket.

Now you can get the belt off.

You cant remove the belt without disconnecting the P clip or removing at least part of the air injection pipes.
