Hi, we've got a message up on the dash saying check coolant level, but the water level is fine and the car  ( 2.2 CDX on Y reg) is not overheating. Does anyone have any ideas why this should show? Getting concerned as going on holiday with baby next weekend! :-?

Check something long and poke the sensor in the expansion tank. Its usual for the sensor to get stuck!!

If not it will be a new bottle which comes with the sensor i think :-/

Cant you buy the sensor separately? Could on the Vectra....

fairly sure it's an integral sealed part of the bottle :-/

you could remove bottle by disconecting overflow hoses and levering off clip on wing side then slide out and have a look (sensor plugs in underneath) - but you will lose some water :-?

Seem to remember that you cant on the Omega :-/

Thats a shame! Before throwing it, you could always use the boiling hot water and vinegar trick. Scale is the usual culprit to stopping the float switch

i chucked a load of bicarbonate of soda in mine to try and clean (missu don't do much baking )

I had same problem. Tried several ways of fixing it but no success. I just used to use the re-set button on the stalk to wipe off the message. But of course it comes up every time you start the car.You could of course disconnect the wiring plug under the bottle.

Got a replacement bottle in the end (About £25 IIRC)  No problems since that was fitted.
