the scuttle drain? Guide in maintenance section. The drain does not drain straight down as you might expect. I runs forward to the front of the car. If all else fails you may have to roll up a sleeve.

Its a rubber grommit pushed into the metal work. I got the impression when i did myn it woul be difficult to remove. Ive not tried it but it may be worth coming up from the other end.

right, get in under the wheel arch on the passenger side.

use a stick or skewer or sum such to poke the exit hole where all the panels merge, hopefully you'll see where I mean as it may have what looks like a damp patch.

Once you've got a hole, and the water has drained, get in the scuttle drain with a hoover nozzle, chances are it's full of rubbish.

I actually opened my hole out so that it could drain at a better rate, as I had the same problem and went through the same thing with the pressure washer!

that cover plate is pretty softish, so you can wiggle the rod and enlarge it ever so slightly to about 5mm by slowly rotating it, without damaging the structure.

     Hi,
I cleared mine the other day by jacking up the front of the car which makes it easier to see the rubber flap that's about 6" diagonally to the left of the grommet you can see in the picture.

Stick a screwdriver up the flap and wiggle it about to clear all the congealed crap that's up there but also do it from the top as it's like a dog leg so goes up, back, then up again.

Stand well back when it clears as it pours out with a vengence!!!

            Hope this helps,
                                  Pete.

A caution to all.

The exit position of teh drain changed around 1998ish.

Early cars had the drain exit into the wheel arch as shown.

Later cars it exits above the chassis rail in the engine bay. On a V6 this is easily reached by removing the oil filler neck (lift tab and rotate as its a bayonet fitting).

I wouldn't recommend the pressure washer method. Unlikely to work and will fill up so that you have no chance of seeing what you're doing.

I used a length of electrical cable (not flex, the stuff that permanent house wiring is laid with so you can bend it to shape) as advised by someone on here.  Worked a treat once you can see where the drain goes..
