First time changing cam belt grrrr
« on: 08 October 2008, 20:40:58 »

Decided to get on with the cambelt change this afternoon as finally got all parts, quick look at the DVD for the 2.2 mines a 2.0 slight differences anyway got the alt-fan belt off removed the front plastic timing cover of then next was the crank pulley just 4 torx bolts FFs all but one rounded off  :'(could'nt get a socket on 3 of em  heavy handed barsteward garages I dunno any way tapped heads a bit then hammered the torx socket on each one grrrrr finally broke em loose dunno what they torqued em to but they v tight .. took all the old pulleys off fitted new water pump (old one looked ok to be honest),  left it at that till tomorrow as need allen sockets to torque the water pump  :-[bolts as got em off with ordinary allen key bit awkward..
Just one question I know the crank shouldnt move  but is there any marks at all I couldnt see any only one on the crank pulley? :y

if it defo hasnt moved then you can just put the pulley back on and finger tighten the torx bolts and then turn it by hand depending how hard it is back to the markers before it gets too far out and you end up turning it the wrong way getting confused, i changed mine without the locking tool, when putting the tensioner back on i held the annoying little tension guage thing to where it needed to be as its on a spazzy cam! lol
