Good evening people, my 52 plate 2.2 petrol omega died suddenly without warning not a cough splutter or any noise. i was doing about 25 - 30 mph when it died and coasted to a stop. my mechanic buddy reckoned it was timing belt but that was o.k. so he said it must somehow be seized. when trying to start the starter motor makes noise but can't turn the engine over. the oil level is perfect.
 I really don't know what to do with it if it needs a new engine how much and where to get a good job done?  the cars covered 165,000 miles but still looks good and was running like a dream til monday night.
 Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Try cranking the motor by hand (socket on the bottom pulley)

cam or crank sensor failure won't stop the engine from turning over check the electrics and try turning it by hand as already suggested , also worth dropping off the aux belt and seeing if that makes a difference

Is your battery Buckers showing full charge; ie are the headlights and interiors lights all working brightly?? :-/ :-/

I ask this as my departed 1996 3.0 Elite had it's air conditioning compressor sieze and completely stopped the engine turning!! :o :o :o
