Brake question?
« on: 30 October 2008, 18:56:04 »

Does anyone know where I can get the pins and anti rattle springs for the rear brakes. I went to vauxhall and was told that the pins come with the pads and also the back plate on the pad. Having purchased pads from my local car accessories shop I have got neither and one of the springs broke...any suggestions apart from getting more pads from Vauxhall.

They don't come with pads. They can be reused, but if required, are available as a 'fitting kit'

Just asking ...but are the back plates important on the pads. The ones I have got have no plate and it seems only vauxhall pads have got them.

are you talking about the anti squeal shims?, if so they are there to stop brakes squealing, so personally id have them in as normally you put copper grease between them & the pad to stop any noise.

i dont suppose you get them off your original pads without damaging them?, ive yet to do the pads on mine so i cant advise you for sure, but i would have a word with your supplier just in case they have been left out but should be in the box as a kit, or they might have another make that does come with the bits & pieces so you could do an exchange, TBH all the kits ive ever fitted on other cars have come with everything included so i would definately quiery it.

Put smear of copperslip on backs of new pads and fit them :y
