hiya, just bought my new toy and took the timing belt cover off.
found the rubber bit from between the inner and outer plastic timing belt covers dragged into the timing belt, the tensioners gone but what d'ya think... set timing up again and see how it runs or stick another engine in that i'v got?

can somebody tell me which tensioner/pulley assembly i need for a '95
v6, watched the timing belt dvd (excellent dvd ) but cant remember for the life of me which one i need to get

Nothing to lose, so fit a tensioner (s/h would do) and check for missing teeth or damage on the belt.
If valves are badly bent it will spin over too freely, if it runs and sounds OK then do a vacuum check...should be 19" when warm, much less could mean valves are slightly bent.

well it'll want a new belt as there's a tear in the belt (wouldnt have lasted much longer i dont think is it was torn half way through the belt) but the teeth looked fine actually, but outside was glazed and cracked

Check what your engine number is on your V5 then get one according to that number (if its original engine of course)

i wont have the V5 for like 3 weeks as it'll have been sent off.
i imagine off the top of my head that it's the EB assembly that i need as it's a 95 so should be the earlier set of engine number (dont worry i'll double check before i get one) unless some monkey has put the newer/later one on instead- tbh it wouldnt suprise me if it was only the belt that'd been changed.
i changed my 4pot timing belt and the idlers looked pretty good it has to be said!
