Omega wont start
« on: 25 October 2008, 19:20:21 »

For the last week or so sometimes it takes a long time to start. Seems to turn over but just wont fire, wonder if its fuel or the immobiliser. Went to work this morning and the car refused to start tried for 10/15 mins then gave up and took the wifes car >:( >:( >:(. Just got back and tried again and still wont fire up. Any help would be brilliant, for some reason this car seems to fight me all the time. Thanx in advance :y :y :y.
The car in question is a 2.5cdx x reg.

now now, lets not be hasty. Have a look here how to read the codes
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687
If you get code 19 then def crank sensor. Easy diy. As is a service. Save yourself some money.

Ps put your car criteria in auto trader, see what comes up. Youll have to spend consideraly more money to get i similar spec. car. What did you have in mind to replace it with?

Thinking about going back to Volvo, had a T5 before the Omega. Depends how much today costs. Had the car 2 years now and its just been grief all the time, I have allways serviced it on time and anything that needed replacing was replaced straight away. The wife calls the car Christine  ;D ;D ;D. Ill keep you all posted on how it goes today and what I decide to do. :y :y :y.

have a look at the link below, its my father in laws c70 throttle body, also a t5 (2.4 5 cylinder turbo) .volvo want 600 sobs to repair, the car is on its second tbody as it was replaced 4 years ago, thats £1200 added to your running costs if volvo repair it. Volvo refuse to repair under warranty, even though it is replaced free in the USA.

I dont know if this part is fitted to the V70 t5(i guess thats what you mean?) but a very interesting insight into Volvo customer service in this country.
Ive never been a volvo fan, and now, i think they are dispicable, as does father in law, i life long volvo customer, he now has a new shape vectra. Volvo also want 400 quid to change a drivers side central locking motor. 1600 to fit 2 throttle bodies and c l motor.
C70 is for sale if you want it? :-)

When I bought my current miggy one of the garage owners I was dealing with was moaning about his Volvo.  A life long Volvo owner, he was suffering from yet more problems with it (sorry unknown model) and he was moaning that just for a straight forward service they were talking over £600, without anything else that needed doing! :o :o :o :o

He explained he had bought his cars always from this particular Volvo dealer (a major chain in Kent that I know but will not name for legal reasons), along with having them regularly maintained by them.  But now he has told them what they can do with their cars  as he is in the trade and feels it got to a 'rip off' state with Volvo! >:( >:(

I have often been tempted to buy one of their powerful big estates, but now I will not even consider it.  So before you jump Hammers from Omega to Volvo I suggest you think twice.  Just my opinion however. :y

i would very strongly recommend a brouse through the maintenance section. You will find top of page 2 the paperclip test guide. This will help you diagnose any ENGINE fault codes. Only reads engine ecu remember. Also you will find a picture of the crank sensor location, its next to the oil filter, and, i belive there is a guide on changing the sensor as well. If you diy be sure to route the wires away from the exhaust. Hth
