ECU Problems.
« on: 12 December 2008, 11:12:03 »

Does anyone know and can help. I have located a replacement ECU and complete engine wiring harness to replace my burnt out ones. So the question now is once I have fitted it I know there is likely to be a problem with the immobilize code. I have been told that it may be possible to bypass the immobilize? Which I will try if the car does starts OK. Will it be possible for my local Vauxhall dealer to reset the codes as when I asked them about checking out the ECU only, they said it had to be on the car, because they had no play of connecting to the ECU alone? So they must have only the standard dealer’s diagnostic equipment.

Depends if it is an early (1994/95) with IR remote locking, or later RF type.  If later, yes, you will have a problem.

Earlier immobilisers can be fairly easily bypassed.
