Door locks, more specifically the drivers side
« on: 16 December 2008, 22:32:33 »

Hey all,

In the past 2 or so days the most annoying problem of all has been happening.

Basically when I unlock the car the door locking stub thing on the drivers side doesnt always pop up as high as it should, so I have just been putting the key in, and turning it to the right which then raises it the few cm's so its unlocked.

Now when I unlock/lock the car sometimes the drivers stalk thing barely moves either way, likes it getting stuck, the only way to fix this is by locking/unlocking the car several times.

Any ideas?

I will have to overhaul my c/l system in the new year as the locks are getting "sticky" in operation, so is there one solenoid per door or a unit central, if so where is it please Mark? :-? :-? :y

Lizzy it's one solenoid per door, and sits behind the door catch directly underneath the little rod that pops up on the door card.

There's a how too on the maintainence section - tunnie to thank for this one, dead easy to follow!

When I have had this problem in the past, a good spray with penetrating oil (having removed the door card) has done the trick.
