Keeping up appearances
« on: 22 December 2008, 20:19:10 »

Have recently fitted a totally refurbished set of Irmscher Ronal wheels and new tyres. They look great at the moment but I would like to keep them that way,so what is the best way to keep that "new look" appart from the obvious cleaning and not getting them near kerbs or potholes (some hope of that !!)  is there any magic cleaner or surface treatment I can apply to keep them in good nick ?

Use a high quality polish, I personally use Mer or autoglym,  others use meguiars but stay away fromthe budget stuff.

Remove wheels every 1k miles and clean all tar off, then polish them.

should last a good while.

when you get round to changing tyres make sure they use the correct tyre bar for alloys, that way the laquer on the rim edge wont get damaged (allows water to get beween laquer and rim).

cheers
