hope everyone is having a good xmas and no doubt wer'e all stuffed full of all that christmas food and booze by now, but I could do with a bit of advice as my mig has provided me with a rather nasty xmas present. I was driving to work on xmas eve and the computer display came up with "check oil level". I thought little of it other than to make a mental note to pick up some oil, although it hadn't been that long since I,d checked it and the level was fine. Anyway ,I got to work and the car drove fine but when I parked up my mate noticed oil pouring out.I popped the bonnet and the oil had got into the headertank of the cooling system and was running everywhere. My first thought was a blown head gasket but then the car hadn't overheated, hand'nt misfired at all, nor was there lots of white smoke as had happened when i've had one go before on a previous car. I called the AA out and the guy said he couldn't say for sure but he had done a mate's V6 omega and it had been the oil intercooler that had corroded, not the head gasket. Obviously I dont want to pay out for a head gasket and then find out that its the cooler or vice-versa! I'm inclined to go for the cooler being at fault but any advice from those more in the know would be much appreciated. Also what sort of costs should I be looking at?
thanks, jerry
