petrol leak
« on: 06 January 2009, 14:40:18 »

Hi hope someone can throw some light on this issue.
When I start the car up petrol is pi55ing from somewhere on the tank.
Not sure where but looks like it's coming from near the top.
Car's not been used for a few weeks after mt ran out so have no idea what may have caused the problem.
Cheers in advance.

Have a look under the circular panel in the boot floor (secured by 4 screws). Chances are the pipes have corroded as they emerge from the tank. A common problem.

Getting a new tank top from a breakers is probably the best solution.

Thanks Kevin
Had a look & yes looks like 1 of the pipes is severely corroded.
Does that mean te whole tank needs to be replaced? Sorry to ask but I have no mechanical knowledge at all.
