Ash tray Problem

Hi

does anyone know how the ashtray mechanism works as mine wont stay closed!

I dont know how it works but mine was the same .... i took out the screw in the middle ( on mine ) and removed the ashtray and found one side had come out of its guide .... problem solved  :y

As above, but also found on mine that the cig lighter wiring was preventing it from closing....

thanks guys

took the ashtray out and refitted it now closes and stays close, it just dos'nt open on its own anymore I think ther's a small spring that may be missing

Mmm  a result of some kind then  :y..... i must admit i never noticed a spring in mine but then i never looked  :-/

My passenger ashtrays won't stay shut. This happended since I had the door panels removed to have the window restrictor changed.
