Had Mayo under the oil filler cap - and lots of it!

Just goes to show.  For the sake of a non paying bidder strike, i walked away.

Gone and bought a 2002 Mondeo 2.0TDCi instead this morning.

Thanks for all your help and comments though folks.

Ta ra................. :y

That is a cold weather thing - if the dipstick is clear it is fine

It was thick, like a jar of mayo under the cap.  I know what slight moisture is and that was not the case with this Omega.

For all the folks going on about ebay, well it works both ways.  Yes am sure the seller is pi**ed but to be fair, its also my hard earned cash.  Would any of you let yourself be f***d over by a garage?? nevermind a private individual.

the guy disnt seem all that entirely suprised when i walked away either.  An he was very evasive with the questions i asked.  left one word answers and all that.

I guess a learning curve for both parties.  It is very difficult not to get wrapped up with the excitement of an auction at the time.

Anyway, once again, thanks all for all your advice.  The Omega is a very nice motor.  Pity GM decided to drop it.

Cheers  8-)

And the moral of the story is......... be very wary about buying cars on ebay.
Of the 10 or so cars I was seriously interested in buying one had been an insurance write off and another had been clocked after HPI checks.
I wouldn't buy another car off ebay - I can't anyway - wife has banned me from doing so after getting fingers burnt on more than one occassion  :'(
