Service
« on: 29 January 2009, 14:03:20 »

Hi

Looking to do a service on my 2001 omega (last service was done 12 mnths ago according to service history.

Going to change oil, air, pollen, and fuel filter, oil and plugs.

My question is is it better to use genuine Vauxhall parts of factor parts.

Many thanks

Local factors are very cheap here. I can get oil for about a tener and 2.50 for a filter.

Only go to opel for timing belt kit and sensors but he gives them to me a trade prices just for asking, what a saint ::) :)

I'd use genuine parts as they will work out cheaper and better quality if you use TC! IIRCC oil and filter works out about £12 if you buy 4 5litre cans :y :y :y

I shrunk mine using Microsoft office picture manager, before I put it on photobucket:

I believe you can also do it on photobucket too...  I don't know how to do that though...

Exactly - too expensive :o

I get my genuine GM oil filters, for example, for £1 plus VAT ;)

I did post up a picture a few months ago showing the difference between a pattern air filter and a genuine - the genuine having a much greater surface area, thus freer flowing.

For service items, I stick to genuine via Trade Club (cheaper than trade prices).

Am I right in assuming you have to be in the trade to get a Trade Club card?

Not necessarily - £20 per year to Autobahnstormers will also get you one.
