Ex-Plod - Flat Battery - Can't get in...
« on: 04 February 2009, 11:34:51 »

I know its the age old question, and the usual answer is keep trying the key in the lock as it will go...

Well...

Nearly half an hour, and no go, I ended up snapping the key blade instead  >:(

I'm guessing the locks on this have been fettled with, as I've noticed before it died, if I lock the doors, I can't even unlock them at all from inside the car (the rear doors anyways), so guess something has been modified on the front doors too...

Any tips??

Car *does* have a tow bar with electrics, but I'm unsure if they work.

Smash the front grille off & pull the bonnet??

Have you tried lifting the handle?

I think they can unlock without moving the pin in these circumstances  :-/

Did you deadlock it?

If so, they will not open from the inside :(

Get a wire coat hanger and put a small hook on one end. Feed it through the front grill to the right of the bonnet catch you should be able to hook the bonnet release cable. Give it a good tug and hopefully it should release the bonnet. :y
Or if you have jump leads locate the starter motor then connect the red positive lead to the main battery terminal on the starter solenoid then the black neg lead to any point on the engine then connect the other ends of jump leads to a battery 12volt supply doing this will provide 12v supply to the cars electrics via the leads from the solenoid/starter connections you can then try c/locking and open car bonnet  :y

Yeah the car is deadlocked, I've tried allsorts so far to open the door, but nothing  :-/

Even with whats left of the blade and some pliers, but that just bent the blade instead...

I'll try the coathanger trick through the grill tho...

if you have a jump pack or a spare battery or if desperate enough a battery charger
jack up front of car
put on axle stands
put red wire from whatever you are using onth the big connector on the starting motor
then the black onto a decent earth and voila
if using battery charger wait about ten minutes before trying
