Any ideas on this anyone?  I am starting to thing must be worn out shocks / springs as it scrapes under braking and even going round roundabouts it is scraping!  Sounds like the tyre is rubbing on the mudflap or arch or something....

Cheers,

Richard

Sounds like wishbone bushes to me, as said. Classic omega tbh. Marks DTM not far away in notingham. Maybe pm him see if he can sort you out.

I have had it checked over at fleet fit today to see if it is ok to do alignment.  The wishbone bushes have a fair amount of play in them but everything else seems fine.  So I need to sort some wishbones out.  How much are they from Vauxhall on TC as I could not see them listed in my yellow book?  Is it worth getting genuine or are aftermarket ones fine?  Also I have seen some Vauxhall ones on Ebay but after recent experiences I am starting to go off Ebay :(

Also when I mentioned the scraping he wasnt sure what would cause that but said try wishbones and alignment and see if there is still a problem.  He said he wasn't sure if you can adjust the camber on the back of the Omega...?  I hope you can becuase my rear drivers side wheel looks further in at the top, must be as even my female boss at work noticed it and she knows nothing about cars!

Cheers,

Richard

yes rear is adjustable too. I would imagine they would have that info on their database when they  do the job.
Re wishbones with bushes pre fitted.
Genuine vx £230.00 a SIDE. Forget that.

Lemforder, who make them for vx, exactly the same but without the GM sticker, £120 pair delivered from Autovaux.http://www.autovaux.com/

Fia or similar from ebay or vauxcentre( i think) £50 a pair, some say these have inferior bushes, those that have then seem quite happy with them.

There are other options but these take time that you dont have if you need the car.

Creeking over speed bumps from cold is wishbones imho, grinding round corners i have had to a far lessor degree, and suspect this will go when the wishbones are changed, as mine did. As said, i would change wishbones and go from there.
Hth

Ps keep the old wishbones, you can get better bushes pressed in at a later date if you feel the need.

Well I have had my wishbones replaced and had the geometry checked and set up.  They said the rear camber is not adjustable and said they would possibly be able to do it with shims etc but would take a long time and would cost a lot of money :(
Front camber before left -1degree 25'   right -2degree 38'
Front camber now     left -1degree 12'   right -1degree 10'

Rear camber before  left -2degree 46'   right -2degree 29'
Rear camber now     left -2degree 50'   right -2degree 55'

You can see just by looking at the rears that they are further out at the bottom than the top, is there anything easy to do to make this better?

The car drives better though, no more scraping noise going round the corners so it seems one more problem solved.  Just the coolant leak to try and find and rear brake pads desperately need changing.

Hi

Have you check front brake pads,!!   mine tramlines badly, mainly i think its down to tyres, buy cheap tyres does not pay and being large size wheels they find all bad cambers especialy in Rushden.  :)

well with regard to that i had to have cheap tyres fitted cos i run out of cash  and had to have them fitted when i was getting the works done on my car but  i have no probs with tramin or pulling to any direction it drives in a perfect line no matter what the road

i hate to say this but in my own experiance people go to tyre dealers and get the car set up but the dealers aint got a clue the set the car to original settings as supplied to them by vaux and it will be well out
i can only say save ur money and use wim its worth all the effort
sorry if i offend anyone
