Hello I am thinking about looking for a 2.2 Diesel. Has anyone had any experience with this engine? I have looked for a write up but cannot find one. any comments would be appreciated. [smiley=dankk2.gif]

Hi,

I've got the 2.2dti on an 2001 estate, had it a couple of years good engine. Things to look out for as I've had a couple of issues, check the turbo out - signs of burnt marks on the housing, remove the air feed hoses and check for oil, as mines leaking (signs of predicted  failure coming ) - looked around and the brand which seems to be fitted to these models is a garrett gt18v - which are not fixable, due type, so its a new unit (around 590 quid so far). Check the serice history and if you can get any warranty then all the better, had mine three months post warranty and the fuel injector pump failed (800 - that hurt, but I'd just finished paying for it and did not want shot of it) - apart from that good engine, av 36mpg around town and 52 on a run.
