Brake vacuum hoses 2.5 TD Blast it!
« on: 14 February 2009, 16:45:14 »

Hi all, Finally got round to removing the inlet manifold and replace my glow plugs today and apart from finding the EGR valve blocked solid I thought all was going well.... Until I noticed one of the little hoses that come off of the Large vacuum pipe for the breaks to a small control box on the wing had come off, or should I say snapped off where it goes onto the blue connector is broken! I have found a replacement on ebay but need the car for work. I know we should always be careful when it comes to brakes but will this cause a problem with the breaks if I block off the hose and connector as they are such a small diameter?? What a bugger! if I cant put it all back together tomorrow it will be next weekend before I get it back on the road :'( any help would be greatly appreciated.

If its the small pipe coming off main, just block hole for now until new one arrives - small vac pipes are for egr and climate

Cheers to THE BOY! I couldn't see how it would effect the breaks if it was blocked off properly. I new it was all going too well all the manifold nuts come off too easily and the EGR copper pipe was done up finger tight think that might explain my tractor like noise plus the EGR valve was completly blocked solid! lots of work getting it all sweet tomorrow!  :y

lot of them are like that ----------fix---------------------------
block hole where its broken off with a smAL SCREW AND ARALDITE or similar, wrap hole with masking tape or similar that wont be affected by heat, fit a T piece onto the one remaining bit on the blue connector and run both pipes off it , this has been like it on my car since i have had it over 48000 now and been fine!!!
