Im guessing an easier way to get it out is leave the cap off and start her up lol
Is this a wind up?
No, you will need to drain by the drain plug in in sump.

Or the set-up that sucks the oil from the dipstick tube  :y
Oh god, don't complicate things ::)

As there is too much oil in, as the piston comes down, its hitting the oil (which it cant compress), and oil is forced passed the piston seals, hence the exhaust smoke.

At higher revs, it can't force the oil out quick enough - you're trying to rip the piston off the conrod.  Worse case - breaked engine. Best case - expensive repair.

I cannot stress enough - DO NOT USE THE CAR until you have the correct oil level.

exactly as TB says!  think of it this way.  You've just had an enormous curry and 5 pints of larger.  on the way home you think having a large portion of fish and chips is also a good idea so you do that as well...  now your mates challenge you to a 5 mile run.  Guess what, your gonna rupture something or spill your guts somewhere.  Pretty much that is what you are doing to your car.

Can't you suck it out the dipstick tube with a straw? ;D ;D ;D ;D

when you say you managed to get the oil from the sump, exactly what have you done?  have you drained it out completely AND refilled with 5.75 litres?

I was taught it was a pint between the marks, but that was on the older BMC setup.

Dont think one mark equals one pint/litre on the omega.

Wonder if its got any oil in it at all now?

So how much is there now? did you not think to check the level as you filled up? rather than chucking 5L in one go?

Its only 1 litre from the bottom of the dipstick to the top!

Emptied the whole lot and refilled with more oil, its about halfway on the dipstick. Changed the oil filter too. Doesnt seem to be any problems as its driving well but will keep my eye out just incase. Should've really checked how much oil it held befor filling but ho hum...

What model do you have? Gls, cdx, elite? Do all models have check controle? I would have thought the oil level warning would have flashed up at some point during all this?

Or is it sacred to come on now? :-)

Keep a very regular (daily) eye on the oil level for a few days before returning to the standard weekly check.

We all make mistakes, hopefully we learn from them :)
