hi finally got more details I was told had gasket failure but this is wrong its a cam belt failure. the cars done 75000 and its a 2.5 v6. would it be worth doing and whats to look for. I realise its a big job and my main concern is setting camshafts after replacement.

I suppose it depends how much the car is worth to you. I have broken new Elites for smaller problems than a snapped cambelt :(

Realistically on an M reg CDX its not worth doing...cost wise it will set you back more than replacing the car with a newer better car...

As Pete says, much better cars have been broken when in reality there is nothing at all wrong with them...for a few hundred you could easily pick up something newer and better...you could probably replace your car with a same age same spec car but with running engine etc for a couple of hundred...

If your car has sentimental value or is in very good condition then maybe worth thinking about getting the parts needed and getting a forum member to help you do the work needed...where are you located?

Yeah mate, easy enough to get a second hand engine or second hand heads :) V reg probably worth doing more...sorry saw your profile and it says M reg, assumed that was the one...

Make sure you have use of a camlocking kit when you do the timing as you do need it!

Unfortunately I only have 3.0 heads atm
