top end knocking

hi all. have noticed a knocking/tapping on the left bank (as you look at engine). it's there at start up and doesnt go away when engine gets warm. it's been there a while now but is gradually getting noisier. could it be sticking/ noisy lifter. how do i cure this. had oil change 2 weeks ago and one last november (about 900 miles)

if its a noisy tappet,only way to cure it is to change it,i had that on my ex plod mv6,took it out and got a new one from dealers(£21) engine now quiet and sweet.

used a stethoscope and it def sounds like cam on left bank mate. are tappets easy to swap
