Dashboard Illumination
« on: 14 February 2009, 18:04:26 »

Im adding to my earlier posts as i cant find it now. Now that my oil problem is sorted :)

Im still having problems with my dashboard illumination. I have checked the fuses, all ok, ive had the dashboard out and checked all the bulbs and two were blown but i still have no luck. 3 of the little bulbs are missing from the setup, the seatbelt and airbag and one other that i dont know what it does but they wernt there when my lights were working ok. I really dont know what to do next! My only other thought was to nip down scrapyard and get a new dashboard to see if that works.

Hope somone can help!  :y

Strange that the airbag one is missing, I would look into that ASAP as there could be a fault on the airbag system and you wont know about it! (Airbags will be disabled completely if a single fault is detected too!)

As for the seatbelt bulb, these are not fitted over hear as far as I know!

The other bulb you mentioned could the trailer bulb? Again these don’t have bulbs fitted  :y

As far as i know, yeh its the towbar airbag and seatlbelts lights that are missing. I know that the circuit runs as a closed circuit so if one bulb goes the rest wont work.

So with that in mind, does that mean that because the other bulbs are not there, this will make it fail? I dont see it because the bulbs were never there in the first place and this problem is only new.

To give people an idea, it was acting up a few months ago, shortening out which was fixed by a smack on the plastic lol which made it come back on. All i did was turn the lighst on and i heard a pop. Since then ive had this problem.

It's not a massive issue but a little disorientating at night and not very good at keeping speed limits! With 6 points already, i cant have more!

Hmm, not sure on that then mate. As for speed at night, does your car have cruise control?

Was from behind the clocks.

Im really stumped tbh. I thought that just replacing the bulbs that had blown would have solved the problem.
