In my personal experience (with filters):

4 pots - shade under 5l
v6 - around 5.5
2.5TD - little over 6l

5 litre canful then a newcastle brown bottle full tops the V6 up nicely. :y

You didn't use a Stella bottle for the MV6 oil changes did you by any chance?
