Rust on rear door!
« on: 11 March 2009, 16:49:35 »

Hi All

I've just bought my first Omega - a 98 Reflection saloon which is in very good nick apart from some minor dings and a small "patch" of bubble rust on top of the n/s rear passenger door panel.

How easy is it to get the rubber weather seal off enough to have a poke at the damage, as Im hoping its small enough for me to do it myself rather than spending a small fortune on a body shop!

Also, the paint on the rear o/s door on the bottom panel has taken on a delightful "crazed" appearance -  again, has anyone come across this before please? I think this will have to be a trip to my local friendly paint shop!

I'd attach some pics of the rust and "custom" paint effect but Im not sure how to  :-/

The rubber trim just pulls up and off.

The crazed paint is probably a result of someone trying to spray the door but not very well.
The rust on tops of doors is a common issue with the pre-facelift Omegas im afraid.
Have a go yourself it wont do any harm ;)

Hi Dazzler

Cheers for the reply - I'll have a bash at the rot the weekend if its looking dry! Pity that it seems to be a reasonably common problem with the pre-facelift omega as it's a cracking motor!  ;D

I'll drop her into a bodyshop for a quote on the dodgy paint job - it shouldnt be too much I'm guessing.
