LSD ID
« on: 14 March 2009, 01:18:05 »

Hi Folks,

I know this has prob been done to death (have done a search, but can't find anything though...  :-? ) - but how can you tell if you've got an LSD fitted?

My motor's a 53-plate ex-plod manual, so would be interested to know.

Cheers  :y

There's a tag on the Diff.  An LSD can be identified with the letters in constains in one of the rows.  Icant remember what they are but someone else will know.

As it will no doubt not have ever been done...take the backplate off (making sure you have something under it to catch all the nasty messy diff oil) then it will be very obvious if you have an LSD or not (large lump on the right hand side is the LSD)...then get the right gearbox oil about 1 ltr put plate back on and fill diff oil back up so you will know for certain either way and have nice clean diff oil in  :y
