Gordon Bennett. What an utter tw@ of a job.

Started off well enough, until it came time to remove the 3 bolts securing the pump to the engine...seems mine is slightly different to most 3L v6s, the two long bolts are installed from
behind the pump - the pumps holes are threaded to take them. Managed to get the bottom one out without too much trouble...long extension to where the oil filter is and a ratchet just fits.
The top bolt however, I couldn't even get a finger to it never mind a socket...not until I had removed the pas pipe, dipstick tube, bracket holding dipstick tube (which was secured by a bolt & nut - which you could just get a finger to) and only then could I fit a torx socket on a u/v joint to it...

Then of course the realisation that the new pump won't fit because the holes are different sizes...

Still, the only thing wrong with the old one was a sheared bolt. So once out, I could remove the sheared bolt...then refit it with all the palava in reverse... started 1800, finished 2300. Ars*.

Took the opportunity, whilst it was all in bits, to fit the knife-edged TBs I've had lying around for ages and replaced the fuel filter too.
Seems to be running lovely now though, so maybe all the grazed knuckles, wrists, forarms and swearing was worth it...
